Covid Protocol

1.       In any event organized / conducted as part of India@75 celebrations, Covid-19 protocol must be strictly followed to ensure:

(i)                  Social distancing

(ii)                Double masking

(iii)               Frequent hand sanitizing

(iv)               Preferably out-door events (if indoors then for a period as brief as possible)

(v)                 All events are part of the routine schedule of the entity and not especially convened (given Covid-19 situation and also given rainy season not permitting planned outdoor events).

Singing Jana Gana Mana/ “Rashtra Gaan”/ National Anthem of India

2.       Indian Diaspora and Friends of India are encouraged to upload their video singing Jana Gana Mana (the National Anthem of India).  A compilation of the uploaded videos of the National Anthem will be shown live on 15th August, 2021. The following steps need to be followed for singing and uploading the video:

a)       Open https://rashtragaan.in

b)      Click on “Proceed” or on the right click at bottom right → (in case of mobile devices)

c)       Enter your name in the box below the headline “Please enter your name here” and select the correct option in “Your Age Group”, Enter the Country name from where the video is being recorded/uploaded. Then click on “Let’s Sing” or on the right click at bottom right → (in case of mobile devices)

d)      Align your face to the screen (At this stage the portal may ask for permission to record audio and video from the device being used).

e)       Once the face is aligned, Press on “Record” - The national anthem music will start playing after a countdown from 3 and the text of the national anthem (in hindi) will be visible for use of those recording a video.

f)        Once the video has been recorded, there will be an option to listen to the recording before uploading or Restart (this will initiate the process on the portal ab-initio). If the individual is satisfied with the playback of the recording, Press Upload to enable the portal to save the video.

Surya Namaskar

3.       All yoga enthusiasts may like to record their best Surya Namaskar sequence and upload on social media and tag embassy (@IndiaInSenegal). Yoga teachers if receiving students as part of their routine may similarly wish to record Surya Namaskar ans upload on the social media.

 

Online contest – various categories

4.       Contest type: Diverse {
dance, song, instrumental, poetry recital, essay (delivered as speech), skits, recipes, best ethnically dressed (dress from any of the states / UTs of India); …these would need video entry
sketches, painting, photography,….these would need photo entry)

 

5.       Subject: India@75 {all the songs / dances / speech would have to be on this subject. Sample songs are given here: national anthem, patriotic Indian songs,  patriotic songs set 2}

 

6.       Language: Hindi / English / French / Portuguese / Wolof / Creole

 

7.       Prizes: There would be attractive prizes (cash, kind or token):

(i)                  1st prize:  CFA 100000 (or equivalent in local currency)

(ii)                2nd prize:  CFA  75000

(iii)               3rd prize:   CFA  50000

(iv)               Consolation prizes: CFA 25000

 

8.       Important: As  a matter of propriety, Embassy members and their family, if participating and winning,  may kindly note that they can only get a token prize and not any cash prize.

d)      {Winning entries will be invited to perform at Hotel King Fahd at a specific time when the honorarium / prize prize plus lump sum incidentals of CFA 10000 too would be disbursed}

 

10.   Last date to add your entry: extended to 8 August 2021  (Sunday)

Contest rules:

11.   Entries would have to be on the main themes of celebrations, namely, India@75

12.   Cooking videos / recipes can be of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian Indian dishes but using the locally available material, spices, fruits and vegetables (e.g. like Moringa, Mango, Bissap. )

13.   Scores awarded by a jury constituted by the Embassy would be final.

14.   Each participant can send as many entries as they wish, by using Google Form repeatedly.

15.   Shortlisted participants would be asked, in due course (a) to share their photo ID card copy (b) to make a detailed presentation of their essay during an online webinar in August 2021.  In addition, in respect of winning entries, a member of the Embassy could travel to the winner’s place, during 9-16 August 2021, to see your performance in person, record it.

16.   Cash prizes, to the winners would be sent by orange money transfer.

17.   Embassy would retain the discretion to cancel one or other or all prizes if the entries do not meet the expected standard of research, rigour, quality and presentation.

18.   All contestants by participating in the contest authorize Embassy to publish their entries on Embassy website / social media under the contestant’s name.

Non-Contest entries

20.   In addition to participation in the contest, as above, one is welcome to also participate through non-contest entries, following the same guidelines as above, but with the following conditions:

a)       Video entries only (and thus signing or dancing on any patriotic Indian songs (link here); skit on a patriotic theme; poetry recital, speech delivery etc).

b)      Videos would have to be uploaded on the social media (youtube / twitter/  facebook) and added to the registration form latest by 7 August 2021.

c)       In respect of some of the entries, a member of the Embassy could travel to the winner’s place, during 9-16 August 2021, to see your performance in person, as also record it.

d)      Embassy would pay an honorarium of CFA 10000 per active member in the particular video subject to the video being

                                 i.            properly uploaded on social media and registered at the registration form

                               ii.            of high definition

                             iii.            with good light / visual

                              iv.            of subject / background music etc on Indian patriotism

FAQs

21.   Q. I want to participate by writing an essay. Can I not send just the written text?
A. No. We need you to also deliver it as a speech, take the video.

22.   Q. Twitter does not take long videos, solution?
A. Upload on youtube and tweet the URL of the youtube.

23.   Q. I do not know Hindi or English, can I still participate?
A. Sure. You can also use French, Portuguese, Wolof and Creole. Make sure your entry is on the subject of the contest, namely, India@75 – 75 Years of India’s Independence.

Results

24.   Contest results were announced on 15 August 2021 during Cultural program at Renaissance Monument in Dakar. Those present at the venue were handed over their prizes. To others, as per the list below, the cash prize would be sent to them appropriately (e.g. orange money transfer, account transfer; please contact cons.dakar@mea.gov.in in case of any clarification).
